Cancer already kills more people worldwide than AIDS, tuberculosis and
malaria combined.A common factor in cancer is an overarching mutation in
the DNA-repair mechanism. Lack of proper DNA repair allows mutation to
run riot, increasing the chance that several anticancer genes will be
affected, but also hiding those mutations in a plethora of others that
have no relevance to cancer formation.
Antioxidants may help
prevent the formation of carcinogens (cancer causing substances), block
the actions of carcinogens, and/or suppress cancer development. Most of
these actions have yet to be proven in humans; however, foods containing
antioxidants (mostly plants) contain many other healthy components.

The
Westernization of Asian diets, including rising consumption of alcohol
and red meat, is causing higher rates of cancer, in the other hands
traditional diets, containing animal and plant foods farmed by nontoxic
methods, are rich in against factors.
What you eat can hurt you,
but it can also help you. Many of the common foods found in grocery
stores or organic markets contain cancer-fighting properties. There
isn't a single element in a particular food that does all the work: The
best thing to do is eat a variety of foods.
