STORYLINE
David Shoebridge is an ordinary, middle class accounts
executive. Unfit and lacking in ambition, his great love in life is his
daughter Rebecca and trying to hold together his very fragile marriage.
His wife Claudette on the other hand, is an extremely athletic
but promiscuous person, who lives well beyond the family’s financial
means. He was from a poor background and had no other family, whilst she
is the only daughter of a very rich family, who live on a large country
estate called Highfields.
David works as financial controller
to a large computer retailer and commutes each day to the head office, a
grand Georgian building in the city of London. He works for a high
flying business tycoon, Steven Nathan, referred to at Nat by his
friends.
Nathan is everything that David isn’t. He is young and
upwardly mobile, ruthless and driven by the desire to make money at any
cost. He walks over anybody that stands in his way and has built a large
computer retailing business on the back of the burgeoning computer
industry.
But, set in the early 1990's, a savage recession is on the way.
Claudette and Nathan are drawn to each other, both indulging in their
love of money and success and rather deviant sexual activities.
During a party at Highfields, they frame an assault by David on
Claudette after an aggressive sexual encounter between her and Nathan,
leaves her battered and bruised. David is arrested, charged and
convicted. He loses everything and ends up living as a down and out on
the streets of London. He is befriended by a group of down and outs, who
society had also cast adrift. They help him to survive a harsh winter
on the streets, but he still spirals downwards into despair. Then an
event happens which causes him to reflect on what he has become. A
fierce anger begins to burn inside of him and he becomes determined to
get back into society and gain revenge over the people who have put him
where he is. He also wants to get his beloved daughter back who has been
packed off to a private school and is unaware of her father’s
predicament.
It was time to find THE WAY BACK.
This is a
story of betrayal, greed and ultimately revenge, set in and around the
computer industry. It is also a time of high fashion and a promiscuous
society where the only thing that talks is money. The story constantly
compares the high life with life on the streets. With good and evil and
that a person, no matter what his background or circumstances, can build
his own successful business empire from nothing, if only he is prepared
to change.
