Tom Hastings, a semi-retired bachelor rented a unit in a high-rise apartment building in Minneapolis, near Lake Calhoun, called the Towers. He moved from the New Dresden area because of the murder of his neighbor. Tom barely survived the associated trauma during the investigation. Another reason he moved was because his close friend Julie lived in nearby St. Paul.
Suddenly a tenant of the Towers was found dead, murdered in her apartment and found next to the railroad tracks and a bike trail, which Tom used frequently.
Tom, Julie and his other friends who lived in the Towers got caught up in an investigation of a series of murders of people who also lived in the Towers. Tom is shocked to realize that it could happen to him again...after experiencing similar circumstance near the small town of New Dresden.
